Adamson blows out LPU for first Pre-Season win

The Adamson Men's Basketball Team showed the caliber of their power, demolishing the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, 90-60, for their first win in the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Cup, Friday afternoon, at the San Juan Arena.

Papi Sarr led the Falcons with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Jerrick Ahanmisi and Nicholas Paranada added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The match started tight, with neither teams giving up an early lead. The first quarter ended with the score tied at 18. Back to back three-pointers from Ahanmisi and a basket from JD Tungcab gave Adamson a small breathing room, 26-20, with 7:38 left in the quarter. However, it was eventually erased by LPU's Allanes and Baltazar. The two teams went on to trade runs with each other. Sarr's presence in the paint and Adamson's transition offense helped them forge a 40-34 lead at halftime.

Then in the second half, the Falcons simply erupted.

The squad from San Marcelino put together 11-1 run to give them a 16-point lead, 51-35, with five minutes remaining in the third. Propelled by Sarr's dominance inside the paint, the Falcons ended the third quarter leading 68-43.

Through crisp passing and efficient shooting, the Falcons pushed their lead to as much as 36 points, 85-49, with 2:52 remaining in the game. From there, Adamson did not look back and went on to earn themselves a convincing victory.

The Falcons now have a 1-2 win-loss slate. Their next game will be on May 19, 1:30 pm, against the Letran Knights, still at the San Juan Arena.
