How Aldub delivered Imagine You and Me

I am not an AlDub fanatic but I would admit that I am a fan of the Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards tandem. "Imagine You and Me" is their first ever solo movie together and it takes a rather different persona than what you usually see on TV.

The chemistry between Maine and Alden was phenomenal. It is perhaps what brought them to the stardom as soon as they hit the unplanned Eat Bulaga Kalyeserye. Maine Mendoza is a natural actress and her facial expressions are really applaudable. Alden Richards looks and gentlemanly characters made him an apt match for her.

Expectation:

A successful movie. I think the movie will be a sure hit to all AlDub fans since the love team and chemistry of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza is very evident in the movie. If you observe in the trailer you know what I mean.

I was a bit disappointed. When "My Bebe Love" was introduced, I want a real AlDub movie and prayed for it and now here's another movie that dwells away from the story of Yaya Dub, Alden, Lola ni Dora, etc. Adding a comedic plot to the existing Kalye Serye of Eat Bulacan is something I am looking forward which again did not happen.

It's an entirely different love team. They are playing new characters - Andrew and Gara. At some point characters of successful movies tend to be more popular than their actors like Popoy and Basha. I just hope that this movie will still not outdo the Yaya Dub and Alden that we have loved.

What's with the title? Do you know that there is a 2005 German-British comedy-romance film written and directed by Ol Parker. entitled "Imagine Me and You"? If I were the producer and the director I would stay away from such very close similarities. There are hundreds and even thousand of other great titles. Try to search on Google "Imagine You and Me" and tell us what you'll see.

Reality:

The movie might have been created especially for the fans of the famed love team ‘AlDub’ of main actors Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza but it offers moviegoers much more.

With the film’s story, beautifully told in frames with the picturesque Italian cities and countryside as the backdrop, and with the characters that transcend beyond Kalye Serye’s famous personas Alden and Yaya Dub, to say ‘Imagine You and Me’ is worth a watch is an understatement.

The film may not eclipse how huge the two actors’ impact in the world of entertainment here and abroad today but it definitely adds up to the value Alden and Maine have right now, and this would be enough reason to solidify their massive following’s love, if that gigantic support they’re showing right now is not yet enough.

The trailer might have failed to entice Aldub’s non-believers to watch the movie but once they’ve watched the film, the least they could do is believe in the charisma and talent of these two, even if not to convert them to becoming a fan.

Director Michael Tuviera, who said during Sunday’ bloggers’ conference the movie was done oozing with love, and ‘with all his heart’ deserves a praise.

‘Imagine You and Me’ may not be a masterpiece but it’s one strong film he has done to pave a way for a brighter movie career for Alden and Maine.

In general, in a scale of 1-10 and 10 is the highest, I would give it 7.
