TO RISE FROM POVERTY, TO FULL DEVELOPMENT.

Earlier this afternoon, an investiture ceremony was held for Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim C.M. as he is conferred the authority and symbols of high office as the sixth President of Adamson University. The event was held at the Adamson University Theatre.

The occasion was attended by presidents and representatives of distinguished Universities and Colleges, officers of government institutions aligned with education, honored ambassadors, administrators and colleagues of Adamson University, family and friends of Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim C.M., two of the University's previous Presidents: Fr. Rolando S. Dela Goza, C.M. (1985 - 1994), and Fr. Jimmy A. Belita, C.M. (1994 - 2003), and Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The ceremony was preceded by a mass presided by Archbishop of Capiz Rev. Jose F. Advincula D.D.The spiritual climate of the celebration was even more heightened since today is also a commemoration to the feast of blessed Frederic Ozanam, founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, whose work of charity continues to the present day through the work of Congregation of the Mission.

After the mass came the highlight of the event: the investiture ceremony for Fr. Manimtim in which he gave a speech. In his speech, he focused on the growth Adamson University has taken over the years. He noted that the University has come far from just being a technical school to a learning institution that produces well-rounded professionals, commited to socially engage. In his closing statement, he reiterates his aspirations for the University:

"As I humbly take on this responsibility [...], I renew my commitment to leading the community with instituting an educational process that would house the socially-disadvantaged to rise from poverty and to full development. And hereby make significant contributions to the betterment of our country. We can and we will with your support."
