Lady Falcons concede defeat to Lady Warriors

The Adamson Lady Falcons endured their fourth loss at the hands of the University of the East Lady Warriors, 57-69, in the UAAP Season 79 Women’s Basketball Tournament, earlier today at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

Adamson struggled to keep up with the squad from Recto early in the game, scoring only half of the UE's baskets at the end of the first period, 11-22.

Lady Falcons made a run in the second period, but Lady Warriors’ top scorer Joyce Francisco immediately extinguished Adamson's streak as she pushed UE to an 8-point lead, ending the first half still in UE’s favor, 29-37.

The Lady Warriors continued to prevail as Nicole Mendina’s trey secured UE a 31-44 cushion over the Lady Falcons. Kaye Pingol’s efforts allowed Adamson to pull off a 13-2 run in the third frame. However, UE still led 47-51 at the end of the period.

By the start of the fourth quarter, Jo Razalo trimmed down the lead to only two points, but UE's Francisco propelled her squad to an 11-2 run to bring their lead back to double digits, 49-60.

Combined efforts from UE's Eunique Chan and Mendina with less than two minutes on the clock sealed the deal for the Lady Warriors as they clinch their fifth win, 57-69.

Aside from UE’s improved defense, Adamson's rebounding woes made it harder for the Lady Falcons to climb back in the game as they only had 37 rebounds compared to UE's 55.

Lady Falcons will have their first round’s last match in the same venue on October 5, Wednesday, against the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses.
