Adamson crumbles anew against DLSU

The Soaring Falcons pushed the Green Archers to the brink but fatal turnovers down the stretch allowed DLSU to run away with the win, 79-86, in the 2nd round of the UAAP Season 79 Men's Basketball Tournament, October 9, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Rookie Jerrick Ahanmisi exploded for 27 points and seven rebounds. Papi Sarr, though hindered by foul trouble, finished with 13 points and six boards. Sean Manganti was also instrumental for Adamson's late rally as he finished with 12 points, six of which came in the fourth period.

Down by as much as 14 points early in the final period, Adamson found a way to slow down the Green Archers while successfully bringing themselves back in the game. Adamson put together several runs but they were immediately extinguished by the Archers. But eventually, the Soaring Falcons broke through DLSU's wide cushion. With 3:14 left in the game, five straight points from Ahanmisi and a smooth jumper from Sarr allowed Adamson to move within just two, 78-80.

Still down by two with just over a minute left, Adamson had the chance to either tie or take the lead. However, Adamson committed a crucial turnover, giving DLSU the ball back. Kib Montalbo, who has been on point all night, sunk a dagger three to put DLSU up by five, 79-84, with 48.7s remaining. Another turnover from Adamson with 37s left made the comeback impossible for Adamson, giving DLSU their eighth straight victory.

With the loss, the Falcons now drop to 4-4 but still sit on the third place tied with Ateneo and National University.

Adamson's next match is against the UP Fighting Maroons this Wednesday, 2pm, still at MoA Arena.
