Falcons Uphold Fourth Place After Besting Warriors

The Adamson Soaring Falcons stood firm against the UE Red Warriors in the UAAP Season 79 Men’s Basketball Tournament, 79-71, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum earlier this evening.

Credit to the Soaring Falcon's big man Papi Sarr for his total of 25 points in the entire game, emerging with series of shots in the remaining two minutes of the game.

During the first quarter, the San Marcelino-based squad generated 24 points while 20 points for the Red Warriors. Jerrick Ahamnisi played the most scores with 12 points.

Trying to recover from the first quarter's loss, the Red Warriors didn't make it easy for the Soaring Falcons to generate scores through their tight defense and on-paint shots. But before long, Falcons regained themselves and ended the quarter with 40-40 scores.

During the third quarter, the Soaring Falcons were able to be composed and resilient with their plays. Sarr used his dominating physique to produce five inside shots. Ahanmisi and Manalang contributed three-point shots earning a total of 29 points to break away with 13 point-gap against the Red Warriors. The period ended with 69-58, favoring the Adamson Soaring Falcons.

Fourth quarter was a period of charity shots. Papi Sarr claimed four out of six free-throws. On the other hand, the Red Warrior's Shannon Gagate, Alvin Pasaol, and Mark Olayon were also given free throw shots scoring three out of six. It was then decided at the remaining seconds of the game that the Soaring Falcons, after implanting an eight-point lead, conquered the game with 79-71 final score against the Red Warriors.

Adamson University now has a 5-5 win-loss slate. The Soaring Falcons will be facing Ateneo Blue Eagles on Saturday, October 29, at 4:00pm at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
